Queensland Housing Code consultation

The Queensland Government has opened consultation on a draft Queensland Housing Code.

The draft Queensland Housing Code (draft QHC) has been developed in consultation with key stakeholders to promote consistent design and siting standards for detached houses on single lots across Queensland.

It is proposed to replace the existing design and siting provisions in the Queensland Development Code.

The draft QHC aims to:

✅ Reduce red tape for the construction industry and new homeowners

✅ Simplify planning and building approval processes

✅ Better support housing affordability and diversity

✅ Promote residential amenity and liveability

RPEQs and other interested parties are encouraged to provide feedback on the draft QHC by going to the Department of Housing and Public Works website.

The consultation period will close on 31 July 2025.  Please follow the link below to provide feedback to the Queensland Government.
